Pooch Personalised Stationery

My cousin, Deb got married last weekend, and we wanted to make her and her new husband, Brett some special personalised stationery as a wedding gift.

They have a pup, Chunk, who is a sausage dog and who they are absolutely mad about, so we decided to use him as the main focus of the stationery. We went with quite a fat, playful font to go with him, and mixed a gorgeous bright blue.

I think the little pup on the envelopes is the cherry on the top...

The business....

We have decided to start printing Business cards, as we have so many requests for them.

Our first job, besides our own, of course were for 2 gals in Jhb, who have started an online shop called Room Online. www.roomonline.co.za

My husband, Ben designed their website, stickers, wrapping paper and business cards for them.

They are printed on our Superthick, Ivory, which is 500gsm thick, and are double-sided, with two colours on the one side and one colour on the other side.

Butterfly

We have just finished printing this gorgeous butterfly inspired wedding invitation. It is a folded invite, with a picture and story on the cover, invite wording on the inside cover and an insert with the reminder of the wedding date.

The bride's name is Vanessa, which means 'butterfly' in Greek, and her fiance has red hair. This inspired her to come up with the idea of a little red haired boy catching a butterfly in his net. (The drawing on the cover was done by the very talented bride herself....)

We have still to print the Order of Service, which will follow the same theme.

These invites went through the press 6 times each, so it was quite a time consuming exercise, but I think the result is great. We printed on a Cream, textured paper and used a hand mixed Orange ink, along with our Coal Black.

White on White

We have recently done a couple of wedding invites that are white printed on white, or otherwise referred to as blind embossing. These invites are very subtle and in all 3 cases the bridal couples have gone for envelopes which are different to the paper in order to add a bit of embellishment. For example either a brown Manila envelope or a handmade fabric envelope.

Our first Exhibition

We are delighted to be taking part in our first exhibition, to be held in Joburg this month. We were approached by Vanessa Klevansky, the creative director of Promise Brand Specialists (and ex Fine Art student).

Vanessa has gathered a total of 13 artists for the show. They include illustrators, printers and painters whose work captures life with joy and humour! Exhibitors include Amelia from Whimsy, Alta Stegmann, Stephanie van Vuuren (and Norman Nanimal), Leigh from Loveburd, Tian van den Heever and Juniper.

All of our limited edition artworks will be on show, including: "Hello", "The Alphabetter pair", "Who's in Charge?", "Come back to me" and "Rambucktious".

Please pop in if you are in the area.

Numerology

Yesterday I printed some table numbers for a client whose wedding invitations we printed a few months ago. I thought they looked pretty cool all lying on the table together.

Merry Christmas!

Somehow before we knew it December was upon us..... so we have launched a very late Christmas card. It is hand drawn and printed in 2 colours ink. Registration on this one was quite a job, but I got it right in the end...
Blink will be supplying these in Cape Town as from the end of this week, and they will be available from me at my stand at the Designer-Maker Artisan Market from the 14th - 16th December in Cape Town.
